Location

Border of Johor and Pahang states, about 300 km (186 miles) from Kuala Lumpur.

When to go

Any time of the year, but best to avoid the wetter months (February-March) when river travel during high-water may be too dangerous.

Access

Overland, via Kahang (TR 50). Follow dirt-road north to Kampung Peta (recommended that you use a 4WD vehicle or a village busses), then by river boat to the park (about an hour). There is a 4WD bus operated by Hi-Adventure which shuttles passengers to the park.

Permits

Required, must be obtained from the Johor National Parks Corporation. Permits are obtained on your behalf if you traveling with a local tour operator.

Equipment

Light clothing, swimming and jungle gear. Camping equipment might be handy. Food supplies.

Facilities

Limited facilities (self-catering chalets, huts and campsites) and forest trails.

Nature

Large mammals (e.g., elephants, tigers), and birdlife along trails and rivers.

Visitor Activities

Camping, birdwatching, jungle trekking. Swimming, although watch out for strong currents and get out of the river with the first signs of an intending flash flood (i.e., increase in river debris and siltation from upstream).
